About Vic Barothy

Vic Barothy, Jr.

Vic Barothy, Jr. flyfishing in Montana

Raised in South Florida, pre-Castro Cuba, Belize, and Michigan – Vic Barothy has had a fishing pole in his hand since he was three years old.

The son of Vic Barothy, Sr, the pioneer of light-tackle sports fishing, Vic  Jr. spent his childhood at his parents’ fishing lodges learning from the best of their guides and clients:  Lefty Kreh,  Joe Brooks, Ted Williams, Hib Johnson, Henry Shakespeare –  and especially the local guides who really knew where to find the fish and how.

Later, as the owner/operator of Barothy Belizean Enterprises, Vic continued the family tradition, spending 18 years with his 36′ Grand Banks offering liveaboard fishing and scuba charters off the coast of Belize and the Bay Islands of Honduras.

Now, back in the U.S. and living in Maryland, Vic has set his sights on the freshwater streams, lakes, and  reservoirs of the Washington D.C.  metro area. Join him as he searches for the hidden spots where you can wet a line and enjoy a day of fishing.
